I grew up timid. I was a shy girl with low confidence, which affected every area of my life. I never understood why people were drawn to me or even believed the lovely things they told me about myself. I got better as I got older. My confidence grew when I developed in certain areas of my life, and most of the shyness went away. However, I still had much of myself to understand and appreciate. I loved to show love to other people and had a habit of ALWAYS putting other people’s wishes and needs above my own.
The idea for Better Than Just OK came to me when I was at the lowest point of my life. Each time someone asked how I was doing, I would just say, “I’m okay.” It occurred to me that being okay was not enough. I wanted to be good, great, or happy. In my quest to be better than just okay, I found out that the best way for me to achieve that was to work on my self-love and to practise wellness. In a world that glorifies suffering and sacrifice in women, it is important for women to understand that they are also important and that their needs, desires, and happiness matter. This platform is a way for me to share what I am learning through my wellness and self-love journey with other women. It is also a platform for other women to share their knowledge, experiences and stories to inspire, encourage and motivate women to lead happier and more fulfilling lives through wellness and self-love.
